Our Programs: Building Leaders Through Action
Five Core Tenets:
The Foundation of Our Programs
Green Beret Project empowers youth in underserved communities through a unique approach that focuses on five core tenets.
These core tenets guide our efforts to help participants develop leadership, responsibility, and self-reliance. By mastering these areas, youth confidently rise above their challenges and build a brighter future.
Our Promotion System:
Progress Through Action
At the Green Beret Project, leadership isn’t just taught—it’s earned. Our promotion system reinforces our five core tenets by motivating participants to take on new challenges and develop skills in academics, physical fitness, and community service.
Participants start as a Private and work their way up through the ranks, earning incentives along the way.
-
Every participant starts as a Private, where they begin learning the foundational skills in leadership, fitness, and academics.
-
To earn their promotion, participants must:
Read 5 books
Complete 5 hours of community service
Finish a 5-mile hike
Master 5 Jiu-Jitsu techniques
Play 5 games of chess with an instructor
-
Read 10 books
Complete 10 hours of community service
Finish a 10-mile hike
Master 10 Jiu-Jitsu techniques
Play 10 games of chess with an instructor
-
Read 15 books
Complete 15 hours of community service
Finish a 15-mile hike

-

In addition to a change in rank, each promotion has an incentive, motivating participants to keep pushing themselves forward. By advancing through the ranks, participants gain confidence, leadership skills, and the sense of achievement that comes with earning their place as a leader.
